Bath Half Marathon Premier Park and Ride service

After the success of 2010's Premier Park and Ride service Bath Racecourse will once again be running the Premium Parking service for the Bath Half Marathon on the 6th March 2011.

The 2010 service which allows runners and their supporters to pre-book tickets for a scheduled park and ride service which will guarantee to get them there for the start of the race was a resounding success. All runners who gave feedback on the service rated it as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’ and everyone asked said they would recommend it to a friend.  Many runners commented that the service lifted any additional stress regarding arriving in time for the start and were instead therefore able to focus on the race.

April Kendall, new events sales executive at Bath Racecourse ran the 2010 Bath Half Marathon for the Teenage Cancer Trust in a respectable 2 hours, 8 minutes and 22 seconds raising over £800 for the cause and knows that any service available to alleviate any additional stress before running a Marathon is welcome.

She said “After running the Bath Half in 2010 any service which eases travel concerns is a welcome relief, enabling you to focus fully on getting through the run. I wish I had known about it last year! We have once again be working closely with Running High who organise the marathon to offer further support to the BANES Park and Ride services all ready in place with our premium service. With expected visitors anything up to an additional 30,000 descending on the City the resource will hopefully help to reduce the congestion and reduce the impact on Bath residents”

As detailed on the Bath Half Marathon Website, all runners are advised to be at the starting line by 10:30 sharp to ensure plenty of time for a warm up and to take their positions. The Bath Racecourse Premium Park and Ride service allows runners and supporters to buy their tickets and choose their time of travel in advance to ensure they arrive in plenty of time.

Buses will run from the racecourse every 45 minutes at 8:00am, 8:45am and 9:30am, with a further bus running at 10:30am which will be suitable for spectators only. The racecourse is just 10 minutes from a designated City Centre drop off point and from there it will be a 10 minute walk to the race start on Great Pulteney Street. As well as the guaranteed travel time customers will also benefit from the use of a secure parking space for the duration of the afternoon, return bus transport on a first-come first-served “shuttle service” between 1:30pm and 5:00pm as well as use of waiting room with refreshments and bathroom facilities.

Customers can book their tickets and select their travel time either online at www.bath-racecourse.co.uk or by calling the racecourse on 01225 424609. Tickets cost £7.50 per person or if you manage to ‘fill a car’ and book 5 tickets the cost will be reduced to just £6 per person. Tickets are only available in advance and anyone turning up on the day will not be able to purchase a ticket. All children over 5 years old require a seat and their own ticket. Passengers are required to arrive AT LEAST 15 MINUTES BEFORE THEIR DEPARTURE TIME. All tickets will be non-refundable and non-transferable between buses.
