  Zephyr warrants leads to drugs arrests in  Devon and Cornwall covering South West of England

Officers from Devon and Cornwall police have been working closely with Zephyr to tackle drug related crime. Zephyr is a new regional crime team that covers the South West of England.

Officers have been seconded from Avon and Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Dorset to form the team which tackles crime that crosses county borders.

On Monday a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act was executed at a residential property in Alfington Road, Exeter. A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

A warrant was also executed in Hatfield Road, Torquay where a 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of amphetamines and ecstasy.

Both men have been bailed pending further enquiries. Officers also recovered a samurai sword and a machete during the operation.

On Tuesday officers executed a search warrant in Beacon Park Road, Plymouth based on intelligence linked to a larger organised crime group. This was followed by the seizure of white powder believed to be a Class A substance at a property in River View.

Additionally a warrant in Bankham Road, Plymouth resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old man on suspicion of possession of heroin. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
